Most houses only need this once a year, usually in autumn once the leaves are down, or whenever you notice water overflowing in heavy rain.
Why it matters
Blocked gutters overflow, and the water ends up soaking the wall below, rotting fascias and finding its way into the house. Green streaks, damp patches inside or plants growing out of the gutter are the usual signs.
It's a quick job to keep on top of and a much cheaper one than sorting damp. If we're already round for the garden or windows, it's easy to add on.
